Each year the 57th Street Children’s Book Fair begins with a parade featuring a cast of storybook characters and neighborhood residents who come dressed in costume. This year the Fair will be visited by such well-loved favorites as Curious George and the Man with Yellow Hat, Clifford, Franklin, Miss Spider, the Stinky Cheese Man, Strawberry Shortcake, the original Winnie the Pooh, Madeline and of course Mother Goose! This year the 57th Street Children’s Book Fair Cat will also make a special appearance! Follow the CTA minibus on this fabulous parade!

The Fair also features live entertainment echoing a love of reading through storytelling, music & dance. This year’s performances will take place on three stages for an entire afternoon of entertainment. Budding authors can also visit our two story rooms and speak with one of the authors making appearances at the Fair. These special guests will read from, talk about and autograph copies of their newest work.
